Client fees for referred patients
If you arrive at Heart Hospital with a letter of referral, you only pay the normal public-sector fee.

The treatment in Tampere, Hatanpää, Valkeakoski and Helsinki is invoiced by Pirkanmaa Hospital District; in Hämeenlinna and Riihimäki by Kanta-Häme Hospital District and in Heart Hospital Nova (Jyväskylä) by Central Finland Hospital District
Maximum payable for social and healthcare client fees
During the calendar year, the public healthcare costs incurred by the client are subject to an annual ceiling. The client is in charge of monitoring the payments and the transfer of payment information between service providers. Read more: Ministry of social affairs and health (link)
Patient fee relief
We will review the fees for instance in cases where your financial solvency, or your circumstances, have substantially changed. We will waive or discount the fee if collecting the fee would jeopardize your livelihood or your obligation to pay maintenance.
A reduction or cancellation of the patient fee can be applied for with a payment exemption application. The application must be made within 30 days of the date of the invoice.

Kela reimburses the patient for their travel costs (usually by the cheapest means of transport) to hospital or rehabilitation.

Home-help services to support convalescence
Municipal home-help services are provided on demand. In addition, several private service providers and organisations provide home-help services. If necessary, you may contact the social worker of your department, or the service provider directly.
